Last week we took our family and our awesome babysitter, Brooke Hayes, on a trip to NY. Our main reason for going was to see Church History sites, but we also had some other stops along the way. We were gone for five days on a much needed vacation, and we had a great time despite some cold weather!
On Sunday (after our 8 hour drive on Saturday) we spent the day in Palmyra. We visited the Smith Farm, the Sacred Grove, and The Hill Cumorah. It was a very special day, and we felt the spirit so strong at these historic sites in the "Cradle of the Restoration."
Monday morning, we visited The Grandin Press (the publication site for the very first 5,000 Books of Mormon ever published), Alvin Smith's grave, and The Whitmer Farm where the church was organized. These were very special sites as well.

Monday evening found us in Niagara Falls. We enjoyed the walk around the falls, the ferris wheel ride that took us right above the falls, and dinner at Rainforest Cafe.
Our final day we spent in Hershey PA at the Hershey Chocolate Factory. It was definitely a highlight for us all. We took the fun little tour/ride about how they make the chocolate (and got the yummy free samples at the end), and then saw a really funny, cute, 3D movie about Milton Hershey and chocolate, complete with special effects, including a smell of chocolate throughout the movie. Definitely a highlight!!!
A GREAT trip, but we are definitely happy to be home and enjoying the rest of spring break just relaxing in the comforts of our own house! It's also nice to not go anywhere, especially since we put over 1,500 miles on the car. It was a very special trip, and we are so thankful to have gone!

i LOVE these sights...weren't you blown away at the grandin press b/c of those teeny tiny letters they had to place backwards by the light of day? incredible! one reason we loved living in cleveland so much was b/c we were so close to these sights...they are so great!! what a fun trip! i'm glad you got to go.
